Representatives from the Bahamas at Miss World

The Bahamas fist competed in Miss World in 1966, when the Local Jaycee Organization (a fraternal group similar to the Masons or the Moose) organized a contest called Miss Bahamas Jaycee in order to select a rep for Miss World. In 1968, the Miss International Bahamas Contest was formed and the winner of this pageant competed at Miss World. When the Bahamas became an indepedant nation in 1973, the name was changed to Miss Commonwealth Bahamas, and the contest ran until 1998. That year, the Miss Northern Bahamas Committee recieved the Miss World francise and their winner went to Miss World, and not the final winner of the Miss Commonwealth Bahamas Pageant. In 1999, the name of Miss Northern Bahamas was changed to Miss World Bahamas. In 2000 the Miss Bahamas Committee and the Miss World Bahamas committee teamed up as one, and for that year, the first runner-up in the Miss Bahamas Pageant competes in Miss World. After a one-year hiatus, the Miss National Bahamas Pageant was formed in 2002 to send reps to Miss World.
