The Miss Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant began in 1947, and was created, just like the Miss Northern Ontario Pageant, as a way to bring together the dozens of small communities that make up the province. The pageant was a preliminary for the now-defunct Miss Canada for several years, and remains today as a well-organized pageant with its roots in the community and its volunteers. Enjoy!
