Miss Namibia Titleholders

Namibia, the former German colony which gained its independence from neighbouring South Africa in 1990, has held a national contest since 1980, when the country was known officially as South-West Africa. Namibia competed in Miss Universe between 1981 and 1984, and upon its independence in 1990, joined the Miss Universe pageant the following year. Michelle McLean put the country on the map for many pageant fans when she finished as a finalist in Miss World 1991 and followed up with her victory as Miss Universe 1992. Namibia, a country of diverse and beautiful contrasts, was showcased to the world when Miss Universe traveled there for their show in 1995.
