Sylvia Hitchcock

Sylvia Hitchcock

The year was 1967. Despite the United States living through racial and political turmoil, a lovely young woman studying in Tuscaloosa, Alabama brought the nation to its feet when she took home the Miss Universe crown. The fourth American to win the crown in the pageant's (then)-sixteen-year history, Sylvia Louise Hitchcock epitomized the image of the classic Southern belle with her classic charm and striking beauty.

Sylvia's intentions to become an art professor were put on hold as she fulfilled her duties as the most beautiful woman in the universe. As an active participant in several Miss Universe pageants throughout the 1970s and 80s, she was also present at the 1997 pageant, and before her very eyes unfolded a reprise of her own victory, as an American took home the crown with a Venezuelan finishing as first runner-up.

Here's Sylvia with her sceptre, looking stunning in her Catalina swimsuit.
