The Jimmy's Pageant Page Award was inaugurated in December 2003 with a two-fold purpose in mind:
1. To recognize outstanding delegates who compete in Canadian pageants who best embody the positive characteristics of a pageant contestant of today, and
2. To provide pageant directors with a vehicle to promote their events on one of the largest and most-respected Internet sites dedicated to pageants, which already possesses a distinctly Canadian focus.
From the Pageant News Bureau, published on December 19, 2003:
...Ms. [Gretal] Montgomery won the Best Smile prize, along with the inaugural Jimmy's Pageant Page Award, presented by pioneer PNB correspondent Jimmy Steele, to the delegate who best embodies the positive characteristics of a pageant contestant of today: perseverance, dedication, compassion, and humility, combined with the always important poise, grace, beauty and charm. The Jimmy's Pageant Page Award will be presented at various other Canadian pageants in the coming years, adding to Mr. Steele's legendary contributions to the pageant world.
