Miss Bahamas Titleholders

The Bahamas Pageant Committee was formed in 1960, and the first Miss Bahamas contest took place that year. The first Miss Bahamas to go to Miss Universe was in 1963: the contest was enfranchised by Miss Universe in 1963 after a visit by the founder of Miss Universe, Mr. Phillip Bottlefield, and Miss USA 1962 Macel Wilson, and as a result there was no contest in 1963. The 1962 winner was the first to go to Miss Universe in 1963. From 1963-1972, the winners went to Miss Universe the year they were crowned; from 1973 to present the winners compete to Miss Universe the year following the crowning. As a result of the this change, there was no rep at Miss Universe in 1973. The Bahamas did not compete in Miss Universe 1984 as they boycotted becuse of the presence of Miss South Africa.

Titles listed with the contestants names are the sponsors who assisted in allowing each candidate compete at the national level, or of the islands they hailed from when a local preliminary was in place. Enjoy the list!
